MTV Enters Online Bingo Market

Online bingo is big business in the UK so it comes as no surprise that MTV has decided to enter the online bingo game industry. Recent reports indicate that MTV has made a deal with gaming giant 888’s b2b division and online bingo sites provider Dragonfish to provide online bingo in the UK and Ireland. The new MTV bingo site will be called ‘Up Your Bingo’ and will be promoted on MTV and the VIVA network. MTV bingo was launched in July and is targeted towards younger players. Philip Bourchier O’Ferrall, senior vice president of Digital Media MTV Networks stated, “At a time when the market for online games and virtual worlds is continuing to grow, collaborations such as this one provide responsible and enjoyable gaming opportunities for our audience.” 888 chief executive Gigi Levy stated, “[W]e wish to form partnerships with market leaders from other business sectors seeking to monetize their assets. MTV Networks is an internationally renowned brand, and we are proud to launch their first entry into online gaming.”

MTV hit the world of bingo with highly original bingo games. MTV has its own version of the classic ‘Saints and Sinners’ bingo and over at the remotecontrolmtv blog the new ‘Jersey Shore’ bingo is nothing short of hilarious! The move by MTV is sure to attract younger affluent tech savvy bingo players. Thanks to new mobile applications MTV bingo can be played on smart phones and other mobile devices.

Young players are changing the face of bingo on both sides of the Atlantic. ‘Rebel Bingo’ which started in the UK swiftly crossed the pond and is now regularly played in New York. Most Rebel Bingo players are part of what could be called the ‘MTV generation’ and the games have become legendary. Most of these players grew up watching music videos on MTV and the network has shaped the musical tastes of a whole generation.  In addition to online bingo the MTV site will also offer 30 other flash games including slot games.
