Wedding Fever Hits Online Bingo Industry

As the date for the royal wedding approaches wedding fever has overtaken the UK. A recent survey by the Mirror showed that despite the chance to take a much needed break in sunnier climes 77% of all Britons plan to stay at home to watch the royal wedding. Many hotels in London are offering special royal wedding packages and recent reports indicate that it will be impossible to find a hotel room in London as April 29thapproaches.  Resorts throughout the country are hosting wedding parties where guests will watch the royal nuptials on big screen TV’s.

The marketing opportunities provided by the royal wedding have not escaped the attention of the online bingo games industry. Just about every bingo site targeting the UK is offering some sort of royal wedding promotion. One well known bingo site is giving away five exact replicas of the engagement ring worn by Kate Middleton. The ring once belonged to prince William’s mother princess Diana and the sapphire and diamond engagement ring has an estimated value of £250,000 pounds. ($409,500.00 USD) Wedding fever has also spread to land based bingo halls. The Gala bingo hall in Tooting will celebrate the royal event with 11 days of special events and games and will screen the wedding on April 29th.

A quick Google search using the search terms ‘royal wedding bingo promotions’ generated 141,000 results indicating that wedding fever has struck the entire online bingo industry. The sheer number of special promotions related to the royal wedding makes it impossible to list them all. Many bingo sites are offering sizable jackpots to celebrate this once in a generation event. The wedding fever is not confined to Great Britain. Many New Yorkers plan to take the day off, watch the wedding, and celebrate. Many American television stations and networks plan extensive coverage of the wedding which is also expected to dominate talk show s on TV.

In addition to being the biggest event at bingo sites the royal wedding is also the travel event of the year. In January and February travel sites advised wedding attendees to book their hotel reservations early. According to current news reports there are no hotel rooms available in London on the day of the wedding at any price. 1,900 wedding invitations have been mailed and the guests include celebrities and royalty from around the world.
